Tropical Logistix was founded in 2008 by Bill Gutek and Roy Doolittle with a clear mission: to provide high‑quality building materials at competitive prices while delivering exceptional customer service. Starting the company during the global recession meant facing early challenges, but it also allowed the founders to refine their approach, learn quickly, and build a foundation rooted in resilience and adaptability.

In those early years, Bill and Roy traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean, meeting with builders, listening to their needs, and forming relationships that would shape the company’s direction. As the economy recovered, the insights gained from those conversations became the guiding principles of Tropical Logistix — to be a trusted trade partner dedicated to supporting the successful completion of every client’s project. Many of the builders they met during that time remain valued partners today.

As the company grew, Roy’s son‑in‑law, Ian Cristan, joined the leadership team, bringing innovation to operations and enhancing the customer experience. His contributions strengthened the company’s ability to provide clear communication, reliable logistics, and a more seamless process for clients across the Caribbean.
